AGM                                        17th July 2012  at 6.00pm

New Zealand   March 2012, 3rd-10th

The Deep Sea Fishoes Prawn and Chicken night is open to all RMYC club members and their guests. This is a not to be missed event and as numbers are limited, make a note in your diaries today. Notices will be placed in the club nearer to the event.

Presidents monthly report.

March Report.
Well what a month March has been. As reported in our February report eight fisho's went back to South West Rocks and eight went to New Zealand for the week in early March.
The report from SWR was fine weather and good fishing on all 3 days, with Ossie landed the biggest Pearl Perch at around 3 kg and plenty of Trag also coming aboard with a few Snapper making up a nice catch of reef fish.So the guys have once again re booked for next year.
Now over to New Zealand, up at 3.30am for a 6.15am flight, too early - not for some, no names but it was 5.25am and the airport bar was open and three hearty soles decided to have a beverage or two before boarding.
So the trip was incredibly organised by Fitzy and the fishing was every thing that we expected and more, live on board for four days with eight blokes and you can use your own imagination how it was.Every one got on fine and we shared some incredible fishing moments.
The boat trip took us out of the port of ''Houhora'' to the northern most tip of NZ about a four hour trip, arriving mid arvo, with bait and lines ready it was on, fishing in only 6 to 12 metres at anchor and with a nice current and burley trail happening the Snapper hit on the first drop.Nearly all fish were released as we had four days and kept only a few fillets frozen down to bring home.
The Kingfish were huge and there were many PB's with Fitzy's Kingy at over 1.3 metres and estimated at 22 to 24 kgs.Mazy also landed one at 1.2 metres after a 15 minute battle then had to sit down for another 25 minutes.
So the highlights  and PB's-John Tripodi's and Tony Straty's Snapper both estimated at 10 kgs, John's took to the soft baits with Nuclear Chicken being the favourite. Fitzy's, Masie's and Steve's Kingy's all PB's.
Marcus is still after that one elusive trophy fish and will have to wait to our next trip even though we all caught plenty of Snapper to 3 and 4 kgs each.
Apart from the great shallow water fishing the Crayfish were mega, and weren't they a bonus. It's a truly beautiful unspoilt part of the world.
So the soft plastics worked a treat with Steve and John persisting with great results.
Smithy, Marcus and Mooney had some great success with fish baits and catch and release was the way to fish with some incredible releases especially Smithy's 4 kg Red. So will we re book for next year? You bet yah.

Now back to the port and only one crew silly enough to venture out in March again no names ''Bubbles'' fished on the only fish day in March which was a blow out.
Our next fishing weekends for April are 2nd 3rd and 16th 17th.
Once Again ''Tight Lines''
President Stephen Lalor

ps Also caught were John Dory, Gunard, Pigfish and a couple of Blue Cod.

April report.
With two weekends available to fish in the month of April was the weather going to be kind to us.
The first weekend in April presented us with calm seas and idea conditions and Ossie and Eddie a board ''E-Jay'' hit the Flathead grounds and bagged out, and closely behind was ''Bubbles'' with Marcus Rob and Joel also bagging with some quality flats.
The highlight was young Conner Dibbo beating Grandad Allan with a Dusky Flathead and there was nothing between the two fish, well done to Conner and well taught by Dad.
Apart from the Flats there were a couple of small Snapper caught, one by Fitz his first on a soft plastic and only a few Leatherjackets which was a pleasant change from the normal bite off's.
So Ossie won the day and Marcus was a very close second.
The spin board came up with a Dusky Flathead and Conner picked a voucher from Gabes at Sylvania.

Our next outing was in the middle of April and this weekend it blew and poured in from the south.
Yet two nutters chose to venture out and fished in the river to no avail, definite nominations for one of the year awards.
So our next fishing weekend is the 1st of May and the target species is Snapper so lets hope the conditions favour us.
Now it wont be long before our Prawn & Chicken night comes around.
The date is the Saturday Night the 18th of June and numbers need to be limited to 100 so get in early and book your table as this is a great night.
Please advise Mark Osborne,John May,Stephen Lalor or any of the Fisho's if you are interested in going, tickets will be available From mid May.
The band we booked once again are the Hard Rocking ''Amigo's'', and they are Brilliant.

May Report
Well the month of May was again a very ordinary month of fishing with strong winds and a very strong north south current.
The weekend of the 14th 15th of May had seven fisho's brave the conditions and once again the crew on ''Bubbles'' had a successful Saturday fish and caught some nice Tailor and Flathead. The other fisho's that went Sunday hardly turned a reel and the weather was dreadful.
The last weekend in May there were 12 fisho's and both Saturday and Sunday saw high seas and windy conditions so Glenn's Bream at 0.84 kg won the day.
With only three weekend outings left for the year Marcus and Rob aboard ''Bubbles'' are well out in front and seem to have won the boat points for the year and the individual point score.
So lets hope the weather and seas improve so we can enjoy the rest of the season.

Now for those of you who are interested the Prawn and Chicken Night is fast approaching so get in and order your tickets ASAP so you don't miss out on this fantastic night.
Its Saturday night June the 18th, tickets are available through Mark Osborn, John May, Marcus Stalker or Stephen Lalor.

Tight Lines Stephen Lalor.

June Report
Finally a perfect weekend with Saturday being the pick of the two days.
The crew on ''Bubbles'' were on the water on Saturday and the target species was Flathead.
Marcus Rob and Joel could only manage a couple of flathead as the leatherjackets were as thick as thieves, from most of the reports coming in the jackets were out wide with a few in close over the sand, but not now there everywhere.
The rest of the Fisho's spent Sunday on the water and it was a beautiful day with similar catches coming in .Two Juniors Triston and Nathan had a couple of Flathead and yes Leatherjackets.
John Tripodi christened the Rivera with a nice Flounder, we also had Mooney head out with ''Taitors'' and caught 8 nice Flathead and only one Jacket, Mooney won the day with the biggest Flathead and Marcus and Ossie shared the overall bag weight with 154 pts each.Masie weighed in a nice pan size squire and Malcolm also had a couple of Jackets.
Our last weekend outing for this season is on the 9th and 10th of July and the target species is Snapper, so weather permitting it should be a good weekend.
With one round to go Marcus is in outright first with Rob a clear second and i don't think they will surrender there lead.
Our next Fisho's meeting will be on the 19th of July and then on the 13th of August we have our presentation night, which is always a great night, then finally our AGM on the 16th of August.

I would also like to acknowledge how good the Prawn and Chicken was once again.
Thankyou's to all the Fisho's who helped out,and Thankyou to the RMYC for your support.

Presidents Annual Report August 2011 for RMYC DEEP SEA FISHING CLUB FOR THESEASON 2010 – 2011
Results shown above but a special mention for our Juniors and Mitchell Dibben who took out the Champion Junior Angler with 160 pts and a very close second was Nathan Straty on 154 pts, Tristan Hannan came in just behind in third place, and I can see next year being a very competitive year (on behalf on the committee we must apologise to the Mitchell and Nathan for the mistake that was made on the night).

The season was again difficult as the weather wasn’t kind to us fisho’s and on the rare occasions when the weather was fine the fishing was poor, but hey, that’s fishing for you. At the start of the season Marcus and Eddie raced away with the lead with some fine catches of Flathead and Mowies.Joel landed a nice Dusky Flathead which was not beaten all season. What we did see this season were some nice Flounder with Tony Straty’s fish of 0.55 kg taking out the season’s best, only just shy of the club record of 0.60 kg.

Then Tristan’s Mowie of 1.51 kg what a cracker and taken on a soft plastic as I understand.

The Dibbos with Juniors Mitchell and Conner showed the seniors how to fish with a nice box of sand Flathead and Conners fish just beating Grandpa’s fish by 0.01 of a kg.

Surprisingly no bag outs this year with the Leatherjackets. The Leatheries disappeared over these months which was a pleasant surprise and so did most of all the species as there wasn’t too much at the weigh ins then the Jackets returned with evengence.

The Flathead were around in numbers in January and February and with some nice catches, as Marcus would say caught them "East of the mooring".

One boat that was always out and mostly on Saturdays were the crew on ‘Bubbles” Marcus,Rob and Joel. Now these 3 Amigos were sneaky, ask them how did you go, only a couple, where did you go, "East of the mooring".

With a possible 18 fishing weekends “Bubbles” fished on every occasion and in all conditions, so they deserved the top honours.

Now i couldn’t leave out two of the Juniors Tristan and Zac.Tristan fished aboard “After Hours" and Zac aboard “Taitors” these lads are two Very Good Fisho’s and it has been a pleasure to fish along side these Juniors .

Once again in March a group of Fisho’s hit South West Rocks and enjoyed some terrific weather and some quality Trags,Snapper and Pearlies.

Another group made a first time visit the top end of NZ for four days on a live on charter and experienced some of the biggest Kingfish,Snapper and Crayfish that you will ever experience,so all is again booked for next year.

So this brings us to the end of another season and even if the fishing on a particular day was quite it was just a pleasure to be out on the watercatch a couple of fish and then enjoy a couple of beers around the BBQ with your mates.

This brings me to Congratulate all of our winners and everyone who participated this season. To the Committee Thanks for all of your support during the season. The Sunday Seafood raffles with the Boat roster worked out really well and there was only one slip up this year.

The Prawn & Chicken Night- Well what can I say other than a brilliant night,”how good was that”, another great success. To all of you who were involved and helped to organise the night once again and even though the numbers were down, we still enjoyed “The Hard Rockin Amigo’s”

Now for all of the Thank you’s:

Ossie for the Sunday BBQs always Brilliant, and what about our last fishing day with Ossie’s seafood chowder. We also had prawns, oysters, chickens dips and nibblies

Marcus for organising the fish cleaning facility, which now is finally completed.

Our sponsors -Reg Dolden, our major sponsor,Clyde Mason President of Woolooware Golf Club, Ian & Eleanor Frazer “Apollo Creations” and Bill at Gabes Fishing at Sylvania

Special Mention to our hard working Committee for the 2010-2011 season:

Vice President -Marcus Stalker

Secretary-Glenn Fitzpatrick

Treasurer-Tony Smith

Social Committee-Mark Osborn, John Tripodi, Mick Brannock,Dave Moon, Eddie Savonna.

Gear Steward-Tony Smith

Weigh Masters-John May, Eddie Savonna, Brook Dibben, Rob Williams.

Point Scorer- Judy Tripodi

Boat Safety Officers-John Tripodi, Marcus Stalker

Now that’s it for another season and thanks to the Committee once again for all of your support this season and the last three season’s prior as its time for me to step aside and pass on the batten.

Once again Tight Lines

Your President for 2010-2011

Stephen Lalor.

Presidents Report September 2011

September 2011 saw an early start to our annual competition but sadly a continuation of the poor weather which hindered us earlier in the year. Marcus was the only brave soul to venture out on the weekend of the 10/11th and was rewarded with a bream and the first club points for the year. The weekend of 24/25th was marginally better with Stephen and Glenn venturing South for a good bag of 15 flathead, the target species for the trip, and Steve on the board with a pair of snapper on plastics the biggest at 1kg. "Taitors" streaking ahead on the ladder now in fron of "Bubbles". Marcus, Rob and Joel tried hard under difficult conditions only having to call back in to port to drop Joel off, when he put on the green mask, then venturing back out to find a leather jacket and nice morwong to Rob. BBQ had to be cancelled to to the poor weather conditions, but the boys all shared a friendly, sociable beer to finish off the weekend. Next trip 8/9 October and hopefully some better weather and fishing conditions.

Presidents October 2011 report

October has seen a major turn around and I am pleased to report that 94 fish were caught for a total of just under 42kgs, well done lads, including a new member Nick Matthews, son in law of Malcolm Chung. Also wetting a line for the first time this year was the Special K crew  with Mitchell and Connor scoring as well as Triston Hannan, who also posted some points. Past President Steve Lalor has hit champion form once more and leads the points table following a slump in form from Marcus, but he assures me it is still early days.Eddie and Oz have gotten off to a late start but will be sure to be posting some points in November. Numerous whale sightings added to the excitement of fishing "outside" but an added need for caution.

Presidents November 2011 Report

Weekend of 5/6 November saw the return of the poor conditions and fishing to match with 9 fishoes catching 24 fish weighing 12.84 kgs. Target species was bream and only a few specimens presented.

Weekend of 19/20 November was also rather poor with 12 fishoes landing 27 fish for a totsal of only 10.16 kgs. Most notable catch was Mark Osborns 3.24kg groper.

Presidents December 2011 Report

Weekend 3/4 December saw more ordinary weather however 8 fishoes braved the conditions for a catch of 14 fish for a total of 5.08kgs. New member Nick Matthews took out the day with 36 points and a couple of nice fish. Traget species was flounder with none caught this trip. Our juniors have been a little quiet owing to the poor weather conditions.

Weekend 17/18 December saw a major turn around in the weather and the best fishing day for the year with 7 fishoes, including new lady member Carol Moon, landing 92 fish for a fantastic 41.45 Kgs. Target species was leatherjacket and some fine samples brought to the scales with Nicks .83kgs the best for the day and a total of 134 points. Best overall was President Glenn with a nice bag of fish including snapper, leatherjackets, morwong and flathead for 171 points with skipper Steve a nice catch of 6 snapper,3 morwong and some flathead. Dave Moon bagged out on flathead and leapfrogs a few on the ladder now on 149 points.

The weigh in was followed by a christmas seafood and chicken lunch whith special thanks to Steve Lalor for his great catering job. A number of wives joined us to finish off the first half of the season in fine style. Good to see a few "oldies" Warren Walker, Ron Myers, Steve Williams join us for the 2011 finale.

Presidents January 2012 Report

Welcome to 2012 and hopefully everyone had a safe and happy Christmas /New Year. The 2012 season has begun relatively slowly with the weather conditions not favourable however on the Jan 14/15 trip 8 fishoes braved the elements and came in with a mixed bag of 23 fish weighing 10.47Kgs. Nick won the day with 98 points and streaked to the top of the leaders board and really handing out the challenge. His keaness was rewarded as he even had to return to base to drop off his deckie Malcolm who donned the green mask, only to return and add to his bag. Well done Nick and welocme to our new member Johnathan Towe fishing with John Tripodi and crew.

The weekend of 28/29 saw only slight improvement in the weather with 12 fishoes landing 45 fish for 16.79kgs. Mostly flathead with a monster board fish bream caught by Tony Straty at .77kgs and a very nice dusky flathead by junior Mitch Dibben at .920kgs well done boys. The day was won by Steve Lalor who regains the top ranking from Nick so this year looks like it will be a neck in neck struggle.

During the month two groups of RMYC Deep Sea Fisho's organised three days fishing down the Eyr  Peninsula South Australia out of Arno Bay.The first group of four were Steve Lalor, Marcus Stalker and the Moonies,Dave and Peter. They fished in very windy weather and rough seas for the targeted Snapper in the morning followed by King George Whiting and Southern Calamari in the afternoon. Each day saw the boys reach the boat bag limit of six Snapper over 60cm and 40 Whiting with about 20 large squid as well..These were LARGE Snapper all in the 8 to 9 kg range thats 18-20 lb on the old scale with one fish, an absolute cracker, at over one metre and weighing in over 11kgs nearly 25 lb, well done Steve-the one you have been after. See the Arno Bay album for photos.

The second group fished the following week and was made up of Mark Osborn, Geoff Rigg, Ron Myers, Ken Hill, Mick Pardoe and Don Saunders. The T2 boys also did well with BIG snapper on days 1+2 along with a good haul of whiting, calamari and blue swimmer crabs. The big fish had disapeared on day 3 with only 1 large red but still another good haul of whiting, calamari and crabs to round off another great trip.
